What is The Call For Help?

The Call For Help is the single go-to place for contacting a Shaden when Shadelings need emergency help or to report behaviour that breaks the Shadow Realm Laws.

You can send this call out to the Shadens using the 🚨 icon found along the right side of the site's navigation bar. On mobile this is in the top right corner of the page.

When making a call for help, please explain exactly what happened and provide a link or screenshot of the problem that can help Shadens investigate the situation and take appropriate action.

Do Shadens reply to Calls For Help?

Yes, they do. Once a Shaden deals with your call for help, they will send you a special Shaden says alert back to you here on the website. Depending on the situation and how many calls Shadens get, they can take some time to reply. When they do, you will get the alert.

Why hasn't a Shaden replied to my Call For Help?

Shadens are our volunteer moderators, they may not always be available to pick up your call immediately. However, to ensure community safety, the call for help is checked every day by The Shadow Court of Protection who may respond to you instead.

If you are not online when a Shaden replies to your call, you will get the alert when you check back into the website.

If you want to help out to make sure the call for help is monitored, please consider applying to become a Shaden.

I got a Shaden response to my call when I logged in but I can't remember what it was about. Can someone tell me?

Under Trust & Safety principles, we do not share details of what a call for help was about, nor do you have access to previous calls for help you have made.

If you are still experiencing issues, you can send another Call For Help or petition The Shadow Court of Protection. A Shaden may come to speak with you privately inside one of The Dens.

What is a Shaden Warrior?

Realm Moderators, or Shadens, protect the realm and its inhabitants from outsider behaviour. Outsiders are people that do not conform to the laws of the realm. Shadens are one of the many ways we ensure The Den Rules are upheld, making the realm a fun and safe place for everyone.

What roles do Shaden Warriors have?

  • Discipline: If a Shaden sees a Shadeling breaking the laws of the realm, or The Spirit Den Rules, Shadens can use special enforcement powers to warn, timeout, restrict or ban them from the realm.
  • Emergency Assistance: Shadens come to the aid of Shadelings that need help by picking up Calls For Help sent by Shadelings using the Alert a Shaden tool.
  • Protection: Shadens proactively protect the realm and all of its areas from anything that is perceivably a threat. It is a Shaden's job to question suspicious behaviour and collect reasonable answers, and remove any harmful content.
  • Hosting: Shadens guide Shadelings around the realm, answer their questions and make them feel at home.

Shadens operate with discretion under the framework of The Shadow Court.

How do you become a Shaden Warrior?

It is difficult to become a Shaden. There is a strict five-stage process. If you apply, you will be notified as to if and when you pass each stage:

  • Stage One β€” Checks: You press the Apply to become a Shaden Warrior button which will check your Twitch account to ensure you are passing basic criteria. It will look up things like if you are following the Twitch stream or not and how long you've been following for, your watch time on the channel, your activity in the stream, as well as check to see if you've recently been in trouble with The Shadow Court (not a good start if you are, by the way).
  • Stage Two β€” Application: You will fill out and send the application form which will go to The Shadow Court of Protection that will conduct further checks on how you conducted yourself in the application, how active you are, and how well you know the laws, as well as other checks relating to who you are and what kind of reputation you have (if you've been causing trouble we will find out!).
  • Stage Three β€” Interview: Shadow Bosses will come interview you. During this interview, you will be examined carefully and scrutinised, along with carrying out role play scenarios to find out whether or not you are actually Shaden material.
  • Stage Four β€” Offer: You will be sent the Shaden Offer. This agreement allows us to share secret tools and information with you as well as the Shaden Code of Conduct. Once this is signed and returned to The Shadow Court, you will become a Shade.
  • Stage Five β€” Training: Having passed the first four stages, you will be paired up with a Shadow Boss who will conduct training. You will learn how to properly use all moderation tools across all platforms as well as having the Shaden guidelines drilled into your head! At the end of training, you will be tested to ensure you can protect the realm without any close supervision. Once the Shadow Boss is satisfied you are fully fledged in all capabilities, they will make a recommendation to The Shadow Court to have you promoted to Shaden Warrior!

What is a Shade?

Across the realm, the title β€œShade” represents someone in preparation for command-level authority.

Shadelings are elevated to Shades when they are undergoing training within The Den Trust & Safety Branch of The Shadow Court of Protection.

Shades have limited powers and they are not allowed to use them on their own without permission from their Shadow Boss guardians.

What is a Shadow Boss and what are their roles?

Across the realm, the title of Shadow Boss is bestowed upon individuals entrusted with overseeing the daily operations of a designated area. In the case of The Den Trust & Safety Branch of The Shadow Court of Protection, a Shadow Boss is a supervisory leader of Shadens and holds Lead Moderator authority. Shadow Bosses have several roles in this capacity:

  • Overseer: Shadow Bosses oversee all moderation and protection activities across the realm, ensuring all actions carried out are consistent with Shaden Guidelines.
  • Escalation: Shadow Bosses handle more serious matters relating to realm protection and can decide on escalated enforcement action.
  • Leadership: Shadow Bosses lead and support Shadens in the every day activities of the realm.
  • Training: Shadow Bosses train Shades to ensure they become fully fledged Shaden Warriors.

How do you apply to become a Shadow Boss?

Shadow Bosses are personally hand-picked by The Dark Lord of Shadows after demonstrating exceptional leadership, judgement and conviction. You cannot apply for this position.

How do I recognise a Shaden Warrior?

You can recognise them by the colour of their names in the realm.

Shades have deep purple names.

Shadens have hot pink names.

Shadow Bosses have red names.

On Twitch they have green sword or hammer badges that tell you they are a moderator.

Shades may or may not yet have a Twitch moderator badge. This depends how far they are in their training; when they have reached the practical side of their training, they will have a Twitch moderator badge.
